What is the MCP protocol?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data sources. It's supported by Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, and more. MCP servers follow this protocol to expose capabilities to any compatible AI client.

What languages can I build with?

TypeScript and Python have official MCP SDKs. Community SDKs cover Go, Rust, Java, C#, and more. As long as your server speaks the MCP protocol, it works on the marketplace.

How do I get paid?

What does the review process look like?

Can I list free servers?

Do I need to host anything?

It depends on the type. Local MCP servers run on the user's machine: you publish a package and users install it. No cloud infrastructure needed. Remote MCP servers are hosted by you and users connect via a URL. Remote servers are great for premium tools since users never get your source code. Both types are fully supported.
