FAQ

What news data does Trends API provide?

Article mention volume for any topic as a normalized time series, growth percentages over 3M/6M/12M/5Y windows, and the live Google News Top News feed.

How is mention volume normalized?

Each topic's series is rescaled against its own history to a 0-100 score, where 100 is the peak of the requested window. That makes news volume directly comparable to search interest or social buzz.

Do I need a Google News API key?

No. One Trends API key covers news volume, news sentiment and every other source.

Can I get sentiment too?

Yes - use the news sentiment source for positive/negative scoring over time, or see the companion repo news-sentiment-api.

How fresh is the data?

The top-news feed updates continuously; mention series are computed on demand. Every response includes a timestamp.
