Security Report

8.2
Low Risk8.2Low Risk

The dyslexiasteps-mcp server is a read-only word list lookup tool that reads a bundled JSON dataset and returns results without any network calls, shell execution, or credential handling. Its permissions (file_read of the bundled data file, optional network_http for the self-hosted HTTP transport) match its stated purpose, and no malicious or dangerous patterns were found. The only observations are minor: the HTTP transport has no authentication, which is acceptable for a public read-only dataset, and the sync script copies a sibling file without validation, which is a build-time convenience rather than a runtime risk. Supply chain analysis found 1 known vulnerability in dependencies (0 critical, 1 high severity).

Use

Local:

{ "mcpServers": { "dyslexiasteps": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "dyslexiasteps-mcp"] } } }

Claude Code: claude mcp add --scope user dyslexiasteps -- npx -y dyslexiasteps-mcp. Self-host the HTTP transport: npm run build && PORT=8787 npm run start:http (POST /mcp, stateless).

Honest limits

A grade is a typical guide, not a rule: programs and standards differ, and a placement is not an assessment of any child. The lists in other languages follow each language's own reading curriculum and have no grade. The server only returns word lists; it gives no advice about a learning difficulty.
